Deadstock fabric is surplus material - fabric a mill or fashion house ordered too much of, dyed the wrong quantity of, or was left holding when a run didn't sell through. It already exists. Deadstock isn't cheap fabric, it's often the opposite: made for luxury or contract orders and never used.

Having come from a fashion background and working in design for over 10 years, we wanted to find ways to minimise this wastage.

We have built all pieces from Collection 01 from deadstock, which is why our quantities and colourways are finite. When a fabric run sells out, it's gone.

Working this way is slower and less convenient than ordering fabric to spec. We can't promise a Pistachio Lili dress will still be here in October but we can tell you nothing we have made for this collection asked for new material to exist.

Every piece here is made to order. We don't cut a garment until you've bought it.

Made to order means made for you, and once it's cut, it can't become someone else's which is why we don't accept returns. If something arrives faulty, that's on us, get in touch and we'll put it right.

We know that's a bigger ask than clicking buy now. If you're between sizes or unsure how something will sit, message us before you order. Five minutes of back and forth now would be our pleasure.

Nothing is cut until you've ordered it, we don't hold finished stock.
Four to six weeks is the time it takes: cutting, sewing and finishing, by hand, in London. 

If timing matters - a wedding, a trip, a date you can't move - tell us when you order. We can't always speed things up, but we'd rather know upfront than have you disappointed in week five.

Every Mei Studios piece is cut and sewn in London. Being a train ride from the manufacturer means every sample could be fitted and tried by ourselves. We wanted to be a part of the full process meaning each detail, from the fabric to the seams is a conversation to make your clothing the best we can and thats why we wanted to make it locally.
